UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

2009-2010

  The Austin uniform is designed to provide neat and modest dress for our students. We wish to present a neat and tidy appearance in uniform, hair and shoes. Please read the following information carefully. Please stress to your child(ren) that shirts are to be tucked in at all times and belts are to be worn with pants or shorts that have belt loops.The uniform is mandatory for grades K-5.

BOYS:

           Solid white or solid red knit polo shirt (no logo, please)

Navy uniform pants or navy uniform shorts (no cargo style; no large pockets on side or front; no oversized pant leg openings or extra length shorts.)

Austin field trip t-shirt (purchased at school and may be worn in lieu of polo shirt). These do not include any festival shirt.

            Solid red or navy blue plain cardigan sweater (no logo, please), or

Solid plain red or navy sweatshirt (NO hoods and NO logos!)  or Austin sweatshirt (sold at the school)

            Dark belt

            Plain white socks with no logo (*crew length ONLY; absolutely no "golf" style)

Enclosed * athletic shoe (expensive name brands are discouraged); absolutely no heelie style shoes will be allowed!

GIRLS:

            Austin plaid or solid navy jumper, uniform pants/shorts or uniform skorts for K-4

            Austin plaid or solid navy skirt for 5^th grade girls ONLY

            Navy uniform pants or navy uniform shorts or skorts  (no cargo style shorts or pants)

PLEASE BE SURE SKIRT, JUMPER, SKORTS AND SHORTS ARE NO LESS  THAN 4 INCHES ABOVE MID-KNEE

Please note: No cargo style pants are allowed! Strictly plain navy blue pants only. Jumpers, skorts and shorts are to be plain in design; do not purchase any item with added ruffle, lace, ribbons, buttons, snaps, ties, etc.  We are only allowing plain uniform style in design.

            Solid white or solid red knit polo shirt (no logo, please)

Peter Pan blouse - Absolutely plain and white (no red piping, no lace added to collars or sleeves; no buttons or bows added to sleeves)

            Solid plain red or navy cardigan sweater (no logos), or

Solid plain red or navy sweatshirt (NO hoods; NO logos) or

Austin sweatshirt (sold at school)

            Dark belt

White * crew length socks only (no "golf" style socks), white kneehighs or solid red, navy or white tights

Navy or red knit shorts to be worn under skirts/jumpers for modesty

Enclosed * athletic shoe (expensive name brands are discouraged); absolutely no heelie style shoes will be allowed!

NO earrings may be worn by boys. NO caps may be worn in the school building.

NO hair or body adornments that will serve to distract from the instructional program.

NO hair scarves

Earrings worn by girls may be studs only.

Earrings are limited to the earlobe area ONLY.

NO fake nails.

PLEASE NOTE:

•Ø      Outer wear is not mandated. It is NOT to be worn inside the classroom once the student has entered the classroom. If your child has a tendency to become chilled, then a plain, solid red or navy cardigan sweater or plain, solid red or plain, solid navy sweatshirt (NO HOODS or logos) or the Austin sweatshirt may be worn in the classroom. Fleece wear that is purchased through the school is allowed.

•Ø      Austin jackets are considered outerwear and are not to be worn inside the classroom.

•Ø      Undergarments, including T-shirts, are to be limited to SOLID WHITE only.
