Subjects Taught

I graduated from McGill Toolen High School in 1996. I attended Spring Hill College, where I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2000. While at Spring Hill, I received the Thomas C. Claver award in Elementary Education.  Also, I attended the University of South Alabama, where I attained a master's degree in Elementary Education. I am currently working on my National Board Certification in Early-Middle Childhood Literacy: Reading-Language Arts.

This is my seventeenth year as a teacher. I taught at Meadowlake Elementary for 12 years, where I taught third grade, fifth grade, and served as a writing coach for two years. I taught at Dixon Elementary for one year as a writing coach and technology support teacher. This is my fourth year as a teacher at Mary B. Austin, where I will work as a technology support teacher and ELA coach.

I am the mother of three active and adorable children. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 18 years. We love to travel and take time to watch movies together. I love to run, read, and craft. My favorite thing to do is learn! I have always wanted to be a teacher, and couldn't imagine being in any other profession. Over the years, so many students and their families have touched my life and continue to live in my heart. I look forward to many more years of teaching, learning, and lasting memories!
